Each tumblr users can be see as a neuron which fires on responding to the signals. Signals are each posts and reblogs. These neurons are connected with other hundreds of neurons by following/followed. Connected neurons recieve neighbors’ firings. Some of connected neighbor neurons are activated by the post/reblog and fire as a response of the signal.
This is a part of the reason why tumblr works as a good content filter. I think.
